*Job opportunities are expected to be good, especially for those with certification or previous work experience.
*Many technicians work evening, weekends and holidays.
*A number of technicians may continue to further their education and pursue the opportunity to become a Pharmacist with further education.
Employment of pharmacy technicians is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2012 due to the increased pharmaceutical needs of a larger and older population, and to the greater use of medications. The increased number of middle-aged and elderly people will lead to more prescription drugs being dispensed. Also more medications are becoming available to treat more conditions.
