As a Machine Tool Technology graduate you will be qualified to produce precision parts using machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, milling machines and computer numerical control machinery.

Machine Tool Technology graduates can become employed as a Machinist, Tool & Die Maker, Instrument Maker, CNC Programmer, CNC Operator, Process Engineer or Machine Tool salesperson.

Earnings for Machinists as reported by the 2006-2007 Occupational Outlook Handbook are as follows:

  • Median hourly earnings are $16.71 with the top 10 percent earning more than $25.31.

Successful Machinists are mechanically inclined; work independently; produce detailed, accurate work; possess above average mathematical skills; and are familiar with the operations of various machine tools.
