Why Study Welding and Joining Technology:

Welding can trace its historic development back to ancient times. The earliest examples come from the Bronze Age. Small gold circular boxes were made by pressure welding lap joints together. It is estimated that these boxes were made more than 2000 years ago. During the Iron Age the Egyptians and people in the eastern Mediterranean area learned to weld pieces of iron together. Many tools were found which were made approximately 1000 B.C.

There is a high demand in the local job market for all types of welders. The welding work environment ranges from assembly line and construction all the way to specialized pipe welding.  We offer Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Oxygen Fuel Cutting, Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and Pipe Welding (both Arc and Tig).  We also offer blue print reading.  Upon graduation you are prepared to take the AWS national welding certification test in any of the above welding processes.  If you are interested in a lucrative and rewarding career in welding you will receive the training necessary to get you started.

With this history, it's no wonder that welding is  -- and continues to be -- a great career choice!  And it can be your choice at HGTC... apply today!
