Allied Health Competitive Applications
**Effective with the FALL QUARTER 2010 competitive class
Practical Nursing and Surgical Technology students will have to complete the NEW HCA TCC prior to competing.
**Available Summer Quarter 2010-new Health Care Assistant program
Graduate from HCA with a specialization in EKG Monitor/Technician or Certifed Nurse Assistant(takes about a year compared to PCA)
**Fall Quarter 2010 will be the last time Radiology diploma students can compete. Radiology degree will only be offered for Fall Quarter 2011 competition and beyond.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I start an Allied Health Program any quarter?
You may begin the designated courses needed for entrance into the program any quarter. However, there are specific quarters when competition takes place to enter the program courses.
2. Is the program full time during the day only?
Designated courses can be taken in a variety of formats: day, night, or online. However, once a student competes and enters the program, classes are full time during the day only.
3. What is competitive admissions?
Most allied health programs have a larger number of applicants than space in clinicals. Therefore maximum class sizes have been set. Competitive admissions is a way to rank students according to specific criteria. Please read the policy carefully. When in doubt, ask Admissions.
4. Is there a minimum GPA required for competition?
No; however, you may retake courses to improve your GPA. Please see the competitive admissions policy for more detail.
