1. Visit HGTC

   • Prospective students are encouraged to visit either of the HGTC campuses. Students can schedule tours, attend an Instant Admissions event, or make an appointment with a Career Counselor to talk about specific program needs.    • Location:  Office 101, 101 B and 101 E in the W. R. Stewart Building

2. Apply-Admissions and Financial Aid

   • You can apply for admissions online or by a paper application. If you need assistance you can come into the admissions office Monday-Thursday from 7:30 am-6:00 pm. There is a $15 non refundable application fee for the first application received.
   • HGTC will no longer process an application without payment of the application fee. Applications without payment will be placed in a HOLD file and held for payment until the application processing deadline for the corresponding term.  After the posted application deadline date these applications will be shredded.
   • There is no reapplication fee for returning students.
   • Allied Health students that have completed designated courses and wish to enter the program courses must complete an application to compete by the posted deadlines. Please see the competitive policy for more details.
   • Commercial Truck Driving students must still complete the admission and financial aid process. However, the start dates for classes are different. Please follow the link for details. Also, there are more out of pocket expenses.
   • The free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) is available online or from the HGTC Financial Aid office. Check the Deadlines for new and returning students. For more information, please email or visit the Financial Aid office.

3. Request High School and College Transcripts

   • Request an official transcript be mailed directly to HGTC’s Admissions office showing HS graduation date and GED passing test scores (not diploma) for entry into designated programs.  Faxed copies may be used for acceptance pending the receipt of the official transcript.
   • If you are a home school graduate or a graduate from a high school that is not accredited, please see the alternative path to admissions policy for documentation needed.
   • All previous colleges attended must be listed on the application for admission. An official transcript is required for evaluation of transfer credit. A transcript from the last college attended must be received before an admissions decision will be made. For a college transcript, contact the registrar’s office at all previous post-secondary institutions and request that transcript(s) be mailed to Admissions. Faxed copies may be used for acceptance pending the receipt of an official transcript.

4. Take the Placement Test

• You must take the placement test (COMPASS) or provide proof of completion of college level math and English with a "C" or better before acceptance can take place. COMPASS is given at both the campus in Dublin and at the Little Ocmulgee Instructional Center in Helena. Click here for available times.

5. Attend Registration and Orientation

   • Once accepted, you will receive an acceptance letter stating your registration and orientation day.
   • You will see an advisor to register. Feel free to contact your program advisor with course specific questions.
   • You must attend orientation if you are a new student to HGTC or if you have not attended HGTC in the last three years.You may also refer to the Dates to Remember calendar.
   • You are required to pay all tuition and fees not covered by financial aid by noon the day before classes start.
   • You will receive an ID Badge and Parking Decal after all fees are paid.
