HGTC MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of Heart of Georgia Technical College is to contribute to economic and workforce development through guaranteed technical and adult education and the services necessary for individuals to achieve their goals.  

Student Bill of Rights
Purpose: To communicate expectations relating to student educational experiences at Heart of Georgia Technical College. These rights are intended to create awareness that reflect student principles. Heart of Georgia Technical College students have the right to:

  1. Be free of discrimination based on race, color, national origin, gender, disability, religion, or any other applicable legislated category.
  2. Be safe on Heart of Georgia Technical College's property.
  3. Have the occupational skills, technology, equipment, and resources available to insure success upon graduation.
  4. Have access to advisors.
  5. Have adequate access to properly equipped labs.
  6. Have privacy regarding personal information.
  7. Evaluate college facilities and services provided by faculty and staff.
  8. Have learning activities/objectives begin and end at scheduled times unless a mutually agreed upon alternative is established.
  9. Hold faculty to the standards or policies, which they hold students to, including attendance and office hours.
  10. Have inclement weather considered in regards to attendance, testing, labs, or other class-related issues.

Student Responsibilities

  1. Respect our fellow student, faculty, and staff regarding their opinions.
  2. Respect HGTC’s equipment, facilities, and persons, as well as the property of others.
  3. Take responsibility for our learning and communicate specific learning needs.
  4. Actively seek out advisors and other support services available.
  5. Always work to the best of our abilities and communicate the need for adequate access to properly equipped labs.
  6. Accept responsibility for our actions.
  7. Seek evaluation/feedback from instructors and peers.
  8. Participate freely and willingly in learning activities using diverse instructional strategies.
  9. Adhere to standards and policies as set by the HGTC Board, TCSG, administration and staff including general classroom guidelines and protocol.
  10. Take responsibility for attending classes regularly regardless of weather and for following other guidelines as prescribed by instructors
