Is Taking Applications for Part-time Instructors  to Teach

January 11 to March 23, 2010

CHM 1111—Chemistry I

Provides an introduction to basic chemical principles and concepts which explain the behavior of matter. Topics include: measurement; physical and chemical properties of matter; atomic structure; chemical bonding; nomenclature; chemical reactions; stoichiometry and gas laws; basic laboratory skills and lab safety procedures.

ECO 1101—Principles of Economics

Provides a description and analysis of economic operations in contemporary society.  Emphasis is placed on developing an understanding of economic concepts and policies as they apply to everyday life.  Topics include:  basic economic principles; economic forces and indicators; capital and labor; price, competition, and monopoly; money and banking; government expenditures, federal and local; fluctuations in production, employment, and income; and United States economy in perspective.

PHY 1110—Introductory Physics

The course is an introduction to some of the basic laws of physics. Topics include: systems of units and conversion of units; vector algebra; Newtonian mechanics; fluids and thermodynamics; heat; light, and optics; mechanical waves; electricity and magnetism; and modern physics. Laboratory experience supports classroom learning. Computer use is an integral part of class and laboratory assignments.

ENG 1010—Fundamentals of English I (day)

Emphasizes the development and improvement of written and oral communication abilities.  Topics include:  analysis of writing; applied grammar and writing skills; editing and proofreading skills; research skills; and oral communication skills.  Homework assignments reinforce classroom learning.

Required Credentials for CHM 1111, ECO 1101, and PHY 1110:  Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline

Required Credentials for ENG 1010:  Baccalaureate degree in field and should have work or other experience which helps relate these skills to the occupational field
